Welcome to my restoration channel! This is a restoration video of an Alemite Lubricator (small hand pump grease gun). In 1918, they formed the Alemite Lubrication Company, and although I’m not exactly sure the year this one was made, it is still pretty old. It belonged to my grandfather, and I am glad to have it restored and in my shop. It made for a neat restoration video. Thanks for the view. I appreciate it! THE RESTORATION PROCESS I dismantled the grease gun and gave it a cleaning. I sand blasted some of the parts and used the tumbler on others. The mid section of the spout was filled with JB Weld and then powder coated due to the heavy pitting as seen in the restoration video. JB Weld is a great filler when going to powder coat because it can withstand the heat required for powder to cure. Several of the parts were sanded up to 2000 grit, buffed, and then plated with nickel, which makes a protective layer and gives it a brighter look. I made a new neoprene seal, and after putting it together, I had to trim the size of the new seal due to being too snug. The wooden handle was simply sanded down and recoated in linseed oil. Once the restoration was complete, I demonstrate the tool on the Snap-on jack I recently restored (if you have seen that video, check it out at • Leaky Rusted Vintage Floor Jack Restoratio... . The grease gun works nice and will definitely be used in the future. If you like what I do here, consider subscribing or leaving a like. It helps me out.
