Backpacking Pictured Rocks - Part One

Welcome to part one of our Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Trail journey. We recently embarked on a journey to complete this trail in 4 nights and 5 days. We began our journey to Michigan on an early Saturday morning in September 2025, arriving in Traverse City MI at about 6pm. We then drove a little over 4 hours to Munising where we rested our heads for the night. On Sunday morning we awoke early and drove the short distance to the Munising Falls Visitor Center parking lot to catch a shuttle to the Grand Sable Visitor Center. From here we began our journey. We hiked 7.7 miles and landed at our first night's camp at Au Sable East CG site 2. This was a fantastic day of hiking and a nice campsite (don't go to the privy). We met some really nice people on trail this day that we would continue to leap frog all the way to the end!! Stay tuned for part 2 coming next week. Thanks so much for watching!
