Kanlaon Volcano produced a moderately explosive eruption at 7:04 PM (local time) on February 26, 2026. According to DOST-PHIVOLCS, the eruption lasted approximately two minutes based on seismic and infrasound records. The event generated an ash plume rising 2,500 meters above the summit crater before drifting southwest. Incandescent ballistics were observed falling around the crater, while pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) descended the eastern and southeastern upper slopes within 2 km of the summit. Continuous ash emission followed the explosive phase and remains ongoing at the time of reporting.
