Located in San Francisco, CA. Welp, this will unfortunately be my very last ride on these amazing pieces of beauties, running since 1988. Nordstrom will be shuttering its doors on the 27th of this month, which is this upcoming Sunday, leaving a large portion of this shopping mall vacant. After the closing, we may no longer be able to ride these elevators ever again, since these only go up to Nordstrom floors. I really like the gold finishes on these elevators. These have really cool custom buttons and indicators, especially with the call stations having the "N" imprinted on it. Given that these elevators only serve two floors (the mall level and one of the Nordstrom levels), I find these quite overkill since there are 6 elevators and that all of them have huge cabs, but I won't complain! These are still cool nevertheless! These are absolutely beautiful elevators and I'm gonna miss these. I'm not sure what the fate of these elevators are, but I guess time will tell. With Bloomingdales being the remaining anchor store left and the mall being less than halfway occupied, the chances of this mall surviving are on the decline. Union Square is also on the decline as well since more stores are closing. Given that this area has been under huge crime waves, low-foot traffic due to C19 Pandemic, and drug related problems on the streets, it has become nearly unviable for Nordstrom and many other retailers to maintain their operations in this area. So far, Old Navy, Saks OFF Fifth, and Nordstrom Rack have moved out of Union Square, along with a few other stores. With Nordstrom soon to be gone, what I can only see is decreasing foot traffic in the area adding more to the changing dynamics that downtown San Francisco is facing, consequentially more stores leaving the area. It's quite a shame. SF should really change some policies/ put in some new policies in order for the city to be turned around, but otherwise this is what this city is gonna keep going through until then. Anyways, good bye Mitsubishis. These were great elevators, and I'd wish I've ridden these amazing beauties more often before the sudden closure.
