Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD lens 4K Cinematic (Shot on Sony a6400) So I have been using the Tamron 28-70mm f/2.8 and 70-180mm f/2.8 full frame lenses for the Sony e-mount system for quite sometime now. And they were great lenses. But those lenses were mainly for full frame cameras. But this time, Tamron made one for the APS-C market. The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 VC lens. The 17-70mm f/2.8 lens is probably one of the best all round lens for Sony APS-C users. Especially for travellers if you only wanna carry one lens with you. During the test, I did a lot of wide open testing. Even at f/2.8, its still really sharp. VC works really well. Only the wide end, you see bit of distortion, its not very noticeable until you shoot the buildings. For photos, that an easy fix. But for video, you might need to use the fish eye lens plug in to reduce the distortion. Is the APS-C market dying? Not worth getting one? I always think APS-C will never die. At least not for another 10 years. The reason is, no matter how cheap are the full frame cameras are getting these days. But to use a full frame system, lenses are always expensive and heavy. And if it’s just for travel, I think full frame is a bit over killing. Overall, I think the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 lens is an awesome lens. Great zoom range. Very good quality. I would definitely buy one when I travel. But ofocz I wish the lens was little bit wider. Like 15mm or 16mm. But I guess I can’t complain too much.
