Shout Out, Alan Coles:    / @thevalleywalker   In May sunshine under cloudless skies, I set out to thru-hike the 68km Epynt Way (revised distance: note estimate in video) - a remote and demanding trail that loops through the militarized high ground of Mynydd Epynt in Mid Wales. Once home to Welsh-speaking farming communities forcibly moved in 1940 to make way for a British Army training ground, the Epynt now stands as both a haunting historical landscape and a wild, breathtaking upland rarely walked in full. Battling arthritis in my ankle, this was more than a hike - it was a personal challenge over rugged terrain where water was scarce and the sun unrelenting on day 1. Featuring an opportune wild camp with sweeping views across the Cambrian Mountains, the moments of deep solitude were bliss.
