Two Big Wins - Marnie and Mia

I’m so happy I persevered with the Marnie Blouse. In this video I have so much positive progress news. I really feel that I’m starting to absorb the instructions for sewing a garment and produce something that is totally wearable and not destined for my scrap fabric box. Tilly has developed some fabulous instructions that are understandable to sewists of all abilities. You can follow the instructions to the letter and ta dah,a blouse is born. Or if you are more experienced you can ‘make it your own’ with adaptions to make something unique. The Tilly and the Buttons patterns are a necessity to anybody who would like to make their own clothes. This blouse is made with a beautiful pale blue patterned cotton fabric. I’m sorry that I’ve totally forgotten where I actually purchased it though. This blouse is my entry to the Sew April Blouse 2025. Next up was the Blackbird Fabrics new Mia Messenger Bag pattern. This was a real learning curve for me as I have never ever inserted a zip in a project before. With the detailed instructions with pictures, I was able to complete the project to a standard that I’m over the moon with. Definitely a proud moment for me. I found the pattern detailed and I loved how there was illustrations on every page of the instructions, indicating the right and wrong sides of each piece. I did find that there was lots and lots of pattern pieces and therefore lots to cut out. As long as you take your time and keep the pattern piece with each fabric panel for identification, you’ll sail along and soon have your very own Mia Messenger bag.
