The Only Living Boy in New York - cover recording by Ed Hulse

The Only Living Boy in New York has been a favourite song of mine since the Bridge Album from the early 1970s. And is a firm part of my acoustic repertoire these days. Recording it here as another practice step in getting my head around the SONAR X3 software has been fun. And again - instead of a picture of me playing it - I thought about what video I could put together. Obvious really. In 1981 and 1982 I went to the US several times - and indeed flew to various European locations for work. And I took pictures with my kodak instamatic! That first 1981 visit took me to upper New York state - driving up to Cornell University and the Finger Lakes before going to Kodak in Rochester. So "New York" also meant the state. Most of the New York pictures in this were from the 1982 visit where I had chance to visit the city for a day. But the connection with the song is still from the 1981 visit - where on returning to New York city from my visit upstate - I found myself with the opportunity to get to Central Park before my train left for Boston - and be at the back of half a million people for the Simon & Garfunkel reunion concert. Didn't see much! But I was there! No pictures in the dark in 1981 with an instamatic!! But all the other pictures in this video are from those 1981 and 1982 visits - including Marseilles airport deputising for "Mexico"! Nearly 40 years ago!
