Chiropractic History Brief text by Howard Wolinsky (author of Contain and Eliminate, 2021) In 1976 Chester Wilk, D.C. and attorney George McAndrews took on the AMA. The charge was that medical establishments sought to destroy Chiropractic. In a fourteen year battle with appeals, Wilk finally won the case in 1987. This was a victory for Chiropractors and their patients. The judge ruled there was indeed a conspiracy to Contain and Eliminate Chiropractic by the AMA. Judge Getzendanner ordered that Chiropractors be allowed to make referrals to Medical doctors and also the AMA publish the change in the Journal of the American Medical Association's policy.
