Friends and loved ones of medical marijuana activist Michelle Rainey attended the unveiling of a bright red memorial bench on the Fraser River at Kanaka Park in Maple Ridge, BC on January 19th, 2013. Michelle suffered from Chron's Disease and used medical marijuana for relief. She was diagnosed with cancer and eventually succumbed on October 20th, 2010. Michelle worked with Marc Emery for many years and was one of the "BC 3" - Marc Emery, Michelle, and Greg Williams - facing life in U.S. prison for selling cannabis seeds through the mail and using the funds to finance legalization activism worldwide. After the end of the seed business, Michelle worked for Treating Yourself Magazine and continued being a tireless advocate for medical marijuana and legalization. She did regular educational videos and hosted events, and was famous for her "MEDICINAL" t-shirts (with the pot-leaf in the A) that spread medical marijuana awareness everywhere. She also sent Health Canada Medical Marijuana doctor forms and information to those who needed help. Michelle was a bright light in many people's lives! Visit the Michelle Rainey memorial bench at Kanaka Creek Park, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. It's a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to the bench, but it's a beautiful park and a peaceful place to remember Michelle. Visit her website for videos and more: www.MichelleRainey.com
