This excerpt from our upcoming LACO SummerFest Concert, “Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet” features Florence Price’s “Adoration”. Originally written for organ, Principal Clarinet Joshua Ranz was inspired to arrange this work for clarinet quintet after hearing it performed by fellow clarinetist Anthony McGill. Florence Price is noted as the first African-American woman to have a composition played by a major orchestra. Price composed "Adoration" in 1951 and she passed on in 1952. SPONSOR This concert, part of LACO SummerFest, was made possible by a generous gift from Terri + Jerry Kohl. WHAT IS LACO SUMMERFEST? Curated by Concertmaster Margaret Batjer, the “Fest” is a series of biweekly, pre-recorded classical music concerts curated by LACO musicians. These 30-minute performances are recorded using newly-released COVID-19 safety guidelines for film and television production in Los Angeles County. The concerts will be shared every other Saturday night beginning July 11 through September 5 on LACO’s social channels and website. We stream our broadcasts on Youtube and Facebook. Broadcasts are also streamed at http://laco.org/live and subsequently on demand at http://laco.org/laco-at-home. PROGRAM Florence Price, "Adoration" (arr.
