CHARGES DISMISSED AGAINST CISCO ENGINEERS IN CASTE CASE Major news out of California where the state’s Civil Rights Department dismissed its case against Cisco Systems engineers Sundar Iyer and Ramana Kompella, who faced allegations of caste based discrimination. The case has been a critical talking point for groups like Equality Labs that seek to add caste legislation throughout the United States that specifically calls out South Asians. In a statement, the Hindu American Foundation, who advocated for the defendants, said “these two Indian-Americans endured a nearly three-year nightmare of unending investigations, a brutal online witch hunt, and a presumption of guilt in the media.” The case against Cisco Systems itself continues, with a meditation scheduled for May.
