I walked deep into the frozen winter forest, far away from any roads, towns, or signs of civilization. Just endless trees, snow, and silence. Only my dog and I. At some point, he caught the scent of a hare and instantly disappeared into the woods. That’s just who he is. He loves the chase. Sometimes he runs after hares or foxes for hours… sometimes even all day and all night. I could hear him barking somewhere far away in the darkness, following tracks through the snow. And that’s normal for us. While he explored the forest, I set up my camp. Even in the cold, I was wearing just a T-shirt. I’m used to it. I enjoy the cold. Cold water, winter air, snow — it makes me feel alive. Some people call it crazy… for me, it’s freedom. I pitched the tent, gathered firewood, and lit the stove. Soon the warm yellow light filled the shelter. The fire crackled gently behind the small glass door of the stove, glowing like a tiny sun in the middle of the cold forest. Later, my dog finally came back, tired but happy. We lay down together inside the tent, side by side, warm and safe. Outside — frost and silence. Inside — fire, calm, and rest. Moments like this remind me why I love the wild.
