Yours worked perfectly at both ends but I think the chances of that being consistent are slim. I would recommend a longer piece. BTW the dolphin I made was 18 gauge 10 inches. You would need more for bail and variance. To make my frame I wrapped my wire around the mandrel 5 times. Used 2 times for the frame and then wrapped the remainder around the frame.
