Many of us narrow down our decisions to two finalists… and then we need som help making the final choice. So in this video, I’m going to compare two very popular stick vacuums: the upstart Tineco Pure One Station 5 and the popular and pricey Dyson V11. I'll take a look at how they stack up against each other, what you get with each purchase and how well they clean. Finally I'll talk about price and value. While the company is an ongoing sponsor of the channel, it hasn't told me what I have to say or what I can't say and I got to create my own tests for these two vacuums so you can consider these thoughts my own. Size and Weight Both the Tineco and Dyson vacuums try to find a happy medium between weight and performance. You can’t have a vacuum weighing less than 6 pounds and expect a cyclonic motor, and both the Pure One Station 5 and V11 weigh similarly. The Tineco slightly wins here weighing 6.5 pounds to Dyson’s 6.6 pounds, which is about 1.5% lighter than the Dyson. That small weight gap might be significant if you’ve got lots of stairs, but I call this a wash. When it comes to length they’re almost identical when fully assembled. And while it’s a nice feature, neither vacuum can stand upright on their own. Winner: Tie Bundled Accessories The included accessories are an area Dyson really had to make some compromises to hit that sub-$500 sweet spot. In the box you get a redesigned cleaner head that Dyson refers to as the Motorbar cleaner head along with what’s called the hair screw tool for keeping pet hair from tangling. There’s also the usual extension tube, crevice tool and combination tools. The accessories that come with the Tineco Pure One Station 5 vary depending on your area. Generally, you’ll get the ZeroTangle Brush which functions as the main cleaning tool along with a tube to extend the vacuums length. The US version comes with a very handy 2-in-1 crevice brush which I like better than Dyson’s offering because there’s less swapping of accessories required. So on this topic, I’d say we come out even… But it’s what else is in the boxes that creates very different product experiences here… Winner: Tie Docking Station Both vacuums also come with recharging or docking stations but they are nowhere near the same. The Dyson docking station is really just a wall hanging bracket where you can keep the cord for recharging. The Pure One Station 5, on the other hand, gives you a whole lot more. This docking station is large, but it will not only store your vacuum and recharge it, but the big plus here is the auto-emptying of the onboard dustbin as soon as you dock it. Full Path emptying The other major advantage the Tineco vacuum has here is what’s called Full Path Cleaning when it’s emptying. In a nutshell, this means it’s not just cleaning out the dustbin, but it also activated the motor head to spin and turn on, so it suctions out the cleaning head, extension tube AND the dustbin, so the whole vacuum gets cleaned when it empties. The large Auto-empty bin can hold 2.5 Liters which translates to about 3 to 5 weeks of regular cleaning before you need to empty it. When that bin on the dock is full, the bagless design means you can just take it to the trash and empty it without having to splash out for bags or liners. You can also rinse it clean to remove any dust residue. To be clear: The Tineco docking and auto-empty station isn’t just a marginal upgrade, in my opinion, it adds a whole new level of functionality and convenience to the package. Good on Tineco for adding this without jacking up the price, particularly since many other brands that I’ve reviewed charge an arm and a leg for this technology.
