In today’s Loose Thoughts video, I wanted to talk about what it’s like to get older with video games. I’ll be 35 soon and I’ve basically been playing games my whole life. Gaming is one of the few hobbies that can genuinely stay with you for decades, but you have to be willing to let the hobby grow, change, and go through seasons with you. In this video I share how my relationship with games has evolved in my 30s, how my tastes shifted, how gaming went through dormant phases in college, how retro collecting became a new layer of the hobby, and how “gaming adjacent” activities like making YouTube videos, collecting discs, or designing custom cases helped me avoid burnout keep the joy for this hobby.
