This desktop cutter model is quite common, and if you've been to a cigar shop in the USA, you've probably seen it. Multiple companies offer this same design, and this particular one is available for only 68.99, a good value for its quality. The model we have here has four cutters; a straight and a v-cut in two sizes. We cut Robustos here and while the smaller gauge seems to fit the vitola, the larger is better for v-cuts. Charles-Philippe is a v-cut guy, and has observed that v-cutters often aren't sharp enough for a clean cut. That's not an issue with the Scorpion, but he's also noted that many v-cutters don't go quite deep enough. This held true for the Scorpion, thus the larger v-cutter yields a better cut for a Robusto here. One thing to be aware of is the convex shape of the straight cut blade. This means your cigar's straight cut will be slightly concave crescent-shaped. This doesn't affect your smoke much, but it may be unexpected if you don't know this about the cutter. While the Scorpion gives clean cuts, its operation feels slightly clunky. [02:54] Pros & Cons Pros: • Relatively inexpensive, at 68.99 • Offers different ring gauge options • Looks cool with a nostalgic feel • Big reservoir, would hold probably 100 caps Cons: • Cutting performance could use improvement • Lever press feels clunky • Rubber feel don't work well - cutter slides around This cutter would be suitable for putting out at a party or other times you might entertain guests.
