UPDATE FEB 13 2014: I finally did that other video of a proper recording of the Ayottes compared to my Tayes and posted it here: • Ayotte vs Taye Studiomaples (with kickport) Enjoy -------------------------------- Hey folks, Here's just a video of me messing around on two kits, trying to decide which one I prefer. It may in fact be the Ayottes, but I was trying to figure out why I played them longer on this video because the DWs seemed to sound better played back, especially through headphones. Anyways, I guess it could have been the camera angled towards the DWs that picked up better sound. Or maybe the DWs just record better or have a better listener's listening experience and the Ayottes have a better player's listening experience. It's tough to say, but what I can say is that the Ayottes eventually took the place of the DWs as the sole kit in the room and a future video recording rather confirmed my camera angle sound theory... I'm not saying Ayottes are better than DWs or vice versa. All I'm stating is my opinion at this given moment in time which is entirely subjective and may also eventually change. There are a couple of dead moments where I'm tuning or replacing a broken stick... I was hittin' hard that day and stopped filming once I had enough firewood :) Happy listening. 2003 DW Collectors on the left: 10x8, 12x9, 14x11, 15x13, 20x18 - 13x6.5 Luka solid maple snare (1/2'' thick with integrated re-rings).12x6 Taye maple side-snare.
