M/F Boknafjord trial trip

On the 27. december 2011 I attended one of the last trial trips with M/F Boknafjord, a double ended LNG driven car ferry for Fjord1, before final delivery from Fiskerstrand BLRT AS on 29. december 2011. On this trial trip we encountered some remains of the extreme weather "Dagmar" which hit our region on the 25. december with hurricane winds and huge waves. The ferry handled beautifully in strong winds (25-29 m/s) and waves around 6m in height. In the beginning of this film we are keeping 18 knots against the wind (25 m/s) with just 60% of available engine power. Later in the film we are turning port, and getting the 6m waves broadside starboard side doing 12-15 knots, again without drama. Boknafjord reached speeds in the region 23-24 knots regularly on 100% power output, and for a short while (less than 1 minute) we registered 24,2 knots maximum. A splendid ship indeed!
