Today I bring you Sváigas from Ruohtta - an artist who has been consistently releasing intriguing, outsider styled black metal. Themed around regional Meänkieli and Sápmi cultures and languages, hewn from raw melodicism and ritualistic sonic landscapes, Ruohtta‘s third album portrays the Sápmi traditions and folklore surrounding the last months of a person´s life. Through poignant, fierce and atmospheric black metal, the album tells of the liminal spaces between stages and escalations of a disease, spiritually and culturally, towards the final day when Tauta loosen its grip and hands the soul over to Svaikainen. The album is released in the US by Realm and Ritual in cassette format, a CD edition from War Against Yourself, and an European cassette to be confirmed in the near future.
