Day 1 of my AmaWaterways Magdalena River cruise in Colombia begins with our arrival into Cartagena Airport, followed by a private AmaWaterways transfer to Barranquilla for embarkation. We chose a direct flight into Cartagena and had AmaWaterways arrange a private transfer, the cost was very reasonable and the scenic two-hour drive was much more relaxing than dealing with a layover in Panama City or Bogotá. Upon arrival, we were met by the AmaWaterways staff, had time to freshen up and change, and then officially boarded the brand-new AmaMelodia. The ship felt incredibly new and clean, and the crew was professional, welcoming, and efficient from the very first moment. The day ended with a lively welcome event onboard, setting the tone for the week ahead and making for a fun and energetic start to this unforgettable river cruise in Colombia.
