Waddesdon Manor is an opulent French Renaissance-style château located in Buckinghamshire, England. Constructed between 1874 and 1889 by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, it was designed to showcase his extensive collection of art and to host lavish gatherings. The manor's architecture draws inspiration from French châteaux, featuring elements from Blois, Chambord, and Chaumont. Inside, visitors can admire a rich array of 18th-century French decorative arts, English portraits, and Dutch Old Masters paintings. The surrounding gardens, designed by Elie Lainé, include formal parterres, a rose garden, and a rococo-style aviary housing exotic birds. In 1957, James de Rothschild bequeathed the estate to the National Trust, ensuring its preservation for future generations. Today, Waddesdon Manor is managed by the Rothschild Foundation and remains one of the National Trust's most visited properties. The estate hosts various events throughout the year, including art exhibitions, concerts, and seasonal celebrations. Notably, the "Wedding Cake" sculpture by Joana Vasconcelos adds a contemporary artistic touch to the historic grounds. Visitors can also enjoy wine tastings from the manor's extensive cellars, which house over 15,000 bottles, primarily from Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Mouton Rothschild estates.
