In this video, we explain the features and what to look for when buying an electric shower, 🔗 Link: Triton electric shower range: https://www.tritonshowers.co.uk/showe... Over the next few minutes I'll explain some of the key features of an electric shower. Whether you're looking to replace an existing one or choosing one for a new installation, there's a wide range available from Triton. Electric showers all work in the same way; they don't use pre-heated water, the majority require a mains cold water supply, and obviously, all require an electric supply! And if you have low or erratic mains water pressure then you'll need a pumped electric shower, which must be fed from a cold water tank. When an electric shower is turned on, cold water enters the shower and is instantly heated; which means you don't need to use any stored hot water and there's no wasted energy. Another plus -- an electric shower is always available on demand 24 hours a day; even if your hot water system breaks down! To control the showering temperature, electric showers are either temperature stabilised or thermostatic. The advantage of a thermostatic shower is more advanced temperature control... which means even if other taps are turned on your selected showering temperature remains virtually constant. No sudden or unexpected temperature changes for greater showering comfort. So for peace of mind for all the family it's always worth considering a thermostatic electric shower. Before we look at the operating features of an electric shower, another consideration is the power rating. The flow rate from an electric shower depends on its kilowatt rating. The higher the rating the greater the flow of heated water at any given temperature. There are different supply requirements for some ratings; for more information on this, watch our "Kilowatt Ratings Explained" video. So now let's have a closer look at the features available on electric showers. Even the most basic showers have a control to adjust the showering temperature, either hotter or cooler. Most have a power control, to select "maximum heat" setting for optimum flow rate from the shower..., and an "economy" heat setting if you want to save energy and water during the summertime. Most will also have a "cold" setting for rinsing. To turn off some showers there is an "off" position on the power selector. On other models, in addition to the power and temperature controls, there is a separate start/stop button. Just one simple press starts or stops the shower. So you can leave your temperature set ready for the next time you use the shower. Other features you're likely to find are; a "power-on" light indicating the electric is on at the isolation switch..., and a "low pressure indicator" which can be mechanical..., or a light, both operate when there is lack of water pressure coming into shower. Showers with electronic controls have a range of features which includes push button controls and lights for "start/stop" and "power selection". While digital displays can advise of everything from "low pressure" to "shower temperature"..., "clean showerhead".... and "phased shutdown". During "phased shutdown" the water will continue to run for a few seconds, flushing out any remaining hot water, before turning off. This helps reduce scale build-up in the heater and the showerhead and ensures a cool start every time the shower is used. The latest innovations are touch sensitive controls for ease of operation.... and remote control electric showers. With remote control showers there is a separate control panel and a remotely sited heater unit; there is a choice of hard wired... or wireless models. The benefit here is you have a slimline control panel, which can be mounted inside or outside of the showering area. For the wireless version there's no need to channel into the wall to bury a cable or pipe, because the heated water supply to the showerhead can simply run through the wall, or through the ceiling and directly into the riser rail; which is great because you don't have to disturb existing tiles. Whatever you're looking for in an electric shower...., whether it's a choice of colours...., a replacement shower or a new installation, Triton always has the answer.
