J. S. Bach – Suite Nr. 3, C-Dur The third suite in C major, BWV 1009, is the most brilliant of the cycle. With never-ending ingenuity, the prelude takes advantage of the possibilities of runs and triad breaks - very similar to the prelude of the E major partita for solo violin. The captivating drama of this movement arises from the harmonic evasions that gradually creep into the initially radiant C major. Towards the end they lead to dramatic chord fingerings Allemande and Courante are demonstratively unanimous, so to speak. The former is gently kept on the go by a gallant anapaest figure, the latter in an ingenious way "Italianized" by alternating broken triads in staccato and short legato arches. While the sarabande returns to the pathetic harmony of the prelude, the two bourrée movements are busy and uncomplicated. The gigue rounds off the suite perfectly, because it not only picks up on the minor tarnish from the prelude and sarabande, but also develops a similarly bizarre soundscape with the help of drums and bariolage effects. The model here was the “Polish-Hanakian” style of Telemann, which gives this finale a touch of burlesque. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - subscribe to vielklang Podcast (vielklang.podigee.io/ - also on Deezer, Spotify, ApplePodcasts) support me on Patreon (www.patreon.com/felixcello) follow me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/thiedemann.cello) Instagram (www.instagram.com/felixcello/) Youtube ( / @felixthiedemann4008 ) visite my homepage (www.felix-thiedemann.com) and subscribe to my Newsletter.
