There was a star invasion at the BRIT Awards in London on Wednesday, where the Arctic Monkeys kicked off the proceedings with a performance. Prince made an appearance with his new band 3RDEYEGIRL to present British Female Solo artist to Ellie Goulding, who seemed star-struck when she collected her award from him. Katy Perry added an international flavor to the ceremony with an ancient Egypt-styled routine of "Dark Horse." Pharrell Williams and Kylie Minogue presented the award for Best International Solo Male to Bruno Mars, who's also set to perform later on in the evening. Electronic duo Disclosure and rock band Bastille have four nominations apiece, while drum `n' bass quartet Rudimental and singer Ellie Goulding each have three. One Direction has two nominations, for British single and British group. International nominees include Drake, Eminem, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Arcade Fire. Most winners are decided by a ballot of some 1,000 music-industry members, with several decided by public vote - including a best video category decided by social-media ballot during the broadcast.
