A widespread resident species in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, they breed throughout the year. 3. Coppersmith barbets are mainly frugivorous - consuming fruits ranging from figs and guavas to mangoes and berries. Occasionally, they may also feed on insects. 4. Their robust bill helps them to peck and carve out holes in tree bark for them to nest in. Their beaks also aid them to crush fruits and insects easily. 5.
