Starting in Zürich Switzerland I headed north to pick up some radiator protection guards at Touratech Switzerland and some other bits and pieces for the bike. Heading east through northern Switzerland then into Austria right through to Innsbruck, then down to Bolzano in dothan Italy to see my friend Alan. After a fantastic night I had a boat to catch in Venice that would take me down to Igoumenitsa Greece. After an uneventful and uncountable boat ride down I found the port town of Praga, and took a few days to come down from working almost 1 and a half years. That lasted a few days and I was bored. I wanted to drive to Istanbul anyway and by chance I met Nick and the b2b expedition team. They are riding 3 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure water cooled beasts from Berlin Germany to Sri Lanka. I meet them in Thessaloniki and accompanied them into the fantastic city of Istanbul. I was nice to drive in a group and meet some great people simply enjoying life and chasing adventure. Needing a 10’000 km service I headed to BMW Istanbul and quick smart it was done and cleaned. Heading back to the hotel it started to rain and if you have ever been to Istanbul when it rains there is no need to tell you how dangerous and slippery the roads are. To my surprise I didn’t drop Paki my Bike and the Michelin Anakee 3 stuck amazingly and I made it back fine… I had to be back in the port city of Igoumenitsa Greece to start leg two of the trip and pick up my mate Pablo.
