New Zealand _ Mt Somers Track to Sharplin Falls, Pinnacles Hut

Pinnacles Hut is on the Mount Somers Track. It can be accessed from Sharplin Falls car park which is at the end of Flynns Road Staveley. It's a challenging track because it is quite steep with lots of tree roots and rocks but we can enjoy nice scenery, natural, sweet honey smells from black beeches, and crystal-clear rivers. Around Pinnacles Hut, there is the unique and enormous Pinnacle Rocks. These are very interesting but we couldn’t complete the track, because short daylight hours made a steady feeling of pressure to return to car park before nightfall. For those who like adventure or taking pictures of unique places, I recommend staying a night at Pinnacles Hut and enjoying around the Pinnacles Rocks Walking Track the next day. Pinnacles Hut is a cozy and it has 19 bunks. Location: Mt Somers Canterbury Distance: 5.8km Time suggested: 3:30 hours or 4 hours (depends on hikers) Grade: hard Date: Mar 2024
