Tena Ecuador - Beautiful City in the Upper Amazon

Tena Ecuador is one of my favorite cities. The food, the climate, the feeling of safety and security are all better, in my opinion, than other cities in Ecuador. This city is often overlooked by expats and tourists, but it's a place you shouldn't miss. This is a great location for those wanting to explore the surrounding jungle, cave systems, and rivers. Tena is near the mighty Rio Napo, a river that can be used for transportation all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Rio Napo joins with the Amazon River in Peru. The cost of living in Tena is low, apartments are still very cheap, and the quality of life is pretty good. If I were a new expat or digital nomad Tena would be my first choice of where to live in Ecuador. You do need to know a little Spanish to get by in this city, and there isn't a large expat community like in Cuanca, but in my opinion that's a good thing.
