Any electronics device you plan on building that has a need for mobility will likely need a reliable power source. In this video, we'll be sharing our massive LifePO4 Battery Pack build project to create a 40 Amp source of power for our future robot. Regardless of the project you have in mind, you may find this a helpful review of the basic process of building a battery pack with Lithium Iron Oxide batteries or other types of Lithium batteries. This project will cover a pack build with our chunky 32700 Lithium Iron Oxide 3.2 VDC batteries rated at 5000ma per battery. This will include all the steps we go through and our first use of a modestly priced battery powered spot welder to make all our connections. After viewing many videos of fires caused by Lithium Ion polymer batteries being damaged or shorted out, I didn't take this build lightly, even though using the safer LifePo4 chemistry cells, and neither should you. Building a large battery pack like this has an element of danger if not done correctly so extreme caution is in order. This should only be attempted by those who've done their research and feel confident in what they're doing as a result of that. I'm in no way an expert, but I invite you to share the journey of this project and the successful result that I ended up with.
