Introducing the ZOIC PalaeoTech T-Rex air scribe (or air pen!) used for fossil preparation. Fossil preparation is the art of revealing a fossil from within its rocky tomb. Here we show you how the ZOIC PalaeoTech T-Rex handles a variety of British fossiliferous rocks containing ammonites. ZOIC PalaeoTech design and manufacture air scribes (otherwise known as air pens, air hammers or pneumatic engravers) specifically for the challenges and demands of fossil preparation. The ZPT-TR or as we fondly know it, the T-Rex, is a state of the art modern design air scribe. It was built to be powerful, yet economical, running at remarkably low pressures and consuming very little air. These are important factors for the fossil preparator, allowing them to work quickly and efficiently, with less noise and lower electricity bills generated by their air compressor! The ZOIC T-Rex is also extremely versatile, with an ever growing range of styli. The ZPT-TR comes as standard with two 3mm tungsten carbide nibs (1 point and 1 chisel). A 3mm Pyrite Chisel can be purchased separately for the unique demands of pyritic rock.
