This episode provides my three proven approaches for safely cutting a small piece of wood with a compound miter saw and other power saws. I start by demonstrating how it is dangerous to cut small piece of MDF board or a similar small piece of wood on a compound miter without properly securing or clamping it to the top cutting surface of the miter saw or securing it with an anchor board. I then provide the following three approaches for safely cutting the small piece of board: 1. My first approach shows you how to secure the small piece of wood to an anchor board with 1¼ inch brads and then make the cut. 2. My second approach shows you how to secure the small piece of wood to an anchor board with 1¼ inch drywall screws, make the cut, and fill the two small holes with wood putty. 3. Next, I show how to clamp the small piece of wood to the cutting surface of the miter saw with an anchor board, a spacer, and the miter saw’s built-in clamp. Lastly, I explain how you can safely make these cuts with a table saw, band saw, skill saw, or a Dremel Saw Max.
