Dvorak's Symphony No.9 in E minor, Op 95 (From the New World). Carlo Maria Giulini conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra. Published in 1962 by EMI as part of the HMV Concert Classics Series. Catalogue No. SXLP 30163 This recording has been restored from a pre-recorded cassette (TC-SXLP 30163). Although the recording was published in vinyl in 1962, I believe this cassette dates from the early 1970s as it is Dolby B encoded. It has an unusual construction in that it has a solid felt pressure pad rather than the normal spring mounted pad, which made playing the tape rather challenging. The playback deck is an Aiwa AD-M800. In addition to the Dolby decoding, I applied some additional noise reduction using specialist software and used Audacity software to repair some dropouts and to apply additional equalisation.
