My family wasn't poor compared to many people who struggle financially, but as a kid I remember knowing that money was sometimes very tight. I remember multiple times being at a gas station on empty and unsure if we had enough money to make put enough in the tank to make it home. My dad made so many sacrifices to send us to private school and get a good education and have great Christmas's and have an amazing childhood, but it was something I think I took on subconsciously as a kid. I remember going to buy basketball shoes every year for the season and my dad wanting me to pick out the shoes I wanted but I couldn't help but look at price tags and try to pick the most reasonable (and I would argue still pretty good looking) shoes. As an adult, there have been times where I have had that same mentality and have struggled to trust at times that God was going to provide unless I made something happen myself. I think we often see other people get blessed by God in miraculous ways financially, physically, or whatever it may be. It's easy to look at our own life and wonder sometimes why God doesn't work the same way in our own life. But the fact of the matter is that just because He doesn't meet your expectation doesn't mean he isn't working on your behalf - many times in ways we don't even see. And the problem (for me anyway) is that when we focus on the struggle that we see as insurmountable, we lose focus that there are people all around us that are struggling too. I thank God for my wife who is sooo generous, especially financially. I want to be a man that doesn't spend so much time worrying about whether or not God will provide that I miss opportunities to bless others in whatever way I can. I want to be a man that trusts God for provision and follows his leading when he shows me someone in need. Sparrows is a song to remind me that God will provide. He has every time and He won't stop now!
