This road was forgotten years ago… but something still follows it. At first glance, it’s just a faint line cutting through the hardwoods of the Missouri Ozarks… a cleared strip of earth covered with leaves and branches, that looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. No fresh tire tracks. No sign of recent human use. Just a long forgotten road slowly being reclaimed by the forest. But spend enough time watching… and a different story begins to unfold. One by one, whitetail deer step onto this old path. Not randomly, and not by accident. They follow it. They cross it in the same places. Morning, evening, and even under the cover of darkness… they return to it again and again. Was this once a logging road? Did wagons or trucks pass through here years ago? Or was it simply a quiet access trail that time left behind? Whatever it used to be… it still serves a purpose. In this Trail Cam Tuesday episode from Foggy Ridge Farm, we take a closer look at how wildlife continues to use what humans have long abandoned. Deer don’t remember roads the way we do—but they understand movement, ease, and safety. And sometimes, the paths we leave behind become part of the land itself. Out here in the Ozarks, nothing is ever truly forgotten. Watch closely, and you’ll start to notice the pattern. The consistency. The quiet rhythm of movement that never stopped… even after the road was left behind. And it makes you wonder… how many other places like this are still out there?
