Here is the lesson for RL Burnside Going Down South, so in this video Im showing you how I play this song, I apologize for the lousy framing of the video, my left hand kind of gets out of the screen frame, but I think you will understand the lesson just the same, because the instructions I give you are crystal clear, I hope, so you will be able to follow them with no problem. Also the song is really simple and straight forward, and I think the most important part is in the rhythm, the right hand ;) I guess I take some liberties in the way I play these Hill Country Blues songs, because I choose some parts of different stylistic moments in RLs ways to play one song and mix them together in a way that I like the most, so this might upset to some "purists" but hey... Im just a fan of Hill Country Blues and I dont believe in copy the old masters licks bit by bit and reproduce that like a robot, my approach is more playful and "creative" I like to figure out the guitar licks of these songs to a certain level of accuracy and then I like to toy around with the different ways the old masters used to play their songs in different stages of their careers. So I hope this makes some sense : P I recorded this video at 2 AM in the morning (!¡) and the gear I used, so i dont wake up to my neighbors, was my Squier 51 plugged to the Zoom G1, super old and cheap multi FX pedal, and then I used a little Master-G bluetooth speaker as a guitar amp, as a matter of fact I really love this little gizmo and as you can hear in the video you can get a really raunchy and meaty tone with this precarious gear : P I will be posting some videos using this rig in different locations here in my city, because the bluetooth speaker and the Zoom G1 pedal can be portable !!
