For your listening pleasure please enjoy this sample from Sean McKenzie's gig at Foundry 616 in Sydney on Friday 10th March 2017 taken on my Galaxy Note 5 through a forest of wine bottles and glasses, and apologies for the bumps (blame my wife's elbows on the table!). Bassist John Maddox is playing a Maton acoustic 6-string guitar he paid $5 for at an op shop and turned into a fretless 4-string bass. Go John! Ian is on drums, a last minute stand-in for Sean's regular skin beater who winged it on the night, every tune being his first go at it. Ian drily remarked that "you gotta fake it to make it" when I complimented him on his near perfect performance. Vocalist Merenia Gillies came on in the second set and I most enjoyed her and the band's take on Rose Royce's "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" and "Norwegian Wood" by The Beatles. Sean McKenzie played his backside off and stamped his mark on the performance but sadly didn't get the big claps as I guess we all thought, him being the big kahuna and all, that he didn't need them, but he sure as hell deserved them!
