Brolin was also in the role of Thanos which even gets a little joke later in the movie. - Now sequel ideas were in the works even before the first film released which is why we got the tease at the end. Simon Kindberg worked on a number of X-men films and said that he'd wanted to bring in Cable for a long time. They were floating around him showing up in Days Of Future Past but after that fell through it gave room for Deadpool. The sequel had yet to be greenlit but the creatives still started brainstorming things early. Now after the first film was such a big hit Reynolds had extra clout and because they hadn't drawn up contracts he had a big opportunity. In the end he negotiated more creative control and had complete casting approval. In the end this caused Tim Miller to step back as he felt he and Reynolds clashed over where to take the movie. He wanted to take things more in line with the first movie and have it be slightly more grounded than what Reynolds planned. He also wanted Gina Carano to return and for Kyle Chandler to play Cable. Vanessa would also have further development and become Copycat like how she is in the comics in the comics.
