A few simple steps will have you cleaning some of the most difficult turns on your trails. Step 1: Vision! Look as far ahead as you can. The further ahead you look, the more you will slow the trail down. Step 2: Gear Choice! Be mindful here. Don't just run it up the cassette and into that 50 tooth. I've seen this many times and people simply spin out. Making torque is awesome, but applying it is even more important. Play around with gear choice and see what works for you. Try to be a rock crawler in four low! Step 3: Line Choice! Do your best to open up the turn as much as possible. Said another way, use as much of the trail as you can. Generally speaking, I prefer to make a tighter turn when I enter and let it open up as I roll out. Step 4: Lean wit it!! Lean into the turn and allow the bike to get rotated. Most newer riders lean away from the turn and this drags it out even more. Start slowly and work your way up with this. Step 5: Slide forward on the seat to help get your center of mass even lower. Once you get all of these elements in check, it's just a matter of pedaling through the turn and applying power. Find a switchback that you're fairly comfortable with and play around with some of the inputs. Let me know how if works!
