Ankle fracture-dislocation is an orthopaedic emergency considering the thin soft tissue envelope around the joint. The fracture puts undue strain on the tissue there causing skin breakage and early infection. They present with severe pain and deformity. If the treatment is delayed this can turn out into an open fracture making the management of the fracture even more difficult. Here we present a patient who ended on the wrong side of the coin, due to the ongoing covid crisis he didn't get the ideal treatment that he should have received at the right time. He was put on simple plaster without an attempt to reduce the dislocation. He presented to us late after 20 days with open skin blisters and infection. Now it was a tricky situation to treat his soft tissue, infection, dislocation and above all the fracture. Though we can't offer him the best treatment with plates and screws as he has a bad wound around the ankle, we decided to stabilise the fracture and hold the reduction with an external fixator ( Rods from outside). We were able to execute our plan during the surgery. Hoping to get him back to his feet and earn back his livelihood.
