Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 Moderato for two guitars

This piece is an all-time favorite, and so compelling that I had to tackle it musically. Here is the culmination of a 6+ year effort to play this moderato the way I needed to play it, on the only instrument I know how to play - the guitar. I started with a two-piano version I found in a music store in the sunset district of San Francisco in 2010. The Van Cliburn recording of this moderato was inspirational. I aspired to create the same feeling I got from listening to that piano and orchestra version on my dreadnought guitar. The Moderato was fittingly written for C-minor, which is not possible on guitar without a significant loss of the music's drive, depth and emotional intensity. I experimented with C minor, even seeing whether it might work with a baritone guitar. No deal. Its in the key of E-minor for guitar. I arranged and recorded the piece (playing both guitar parts) using a 1992 vintage Martin HD28, played with metal fingerpicks and medium gauge strings.
