The train, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar with over 400 passengers, was attacked near Sibi city. The BLA claimed responsibility, stating they blew up the tracks and took control of the train, threatening to execute 10 people. Security forces launched an operation, resulting in the rescue of 127 passengers and the deaths of 27 BLA fighters and 10 passengers, including the train driver. The BLA demanded the release of Baloch political prisoners within 48 hours, claiming to hold over 200 hostages. The train was targeted in the Bolan Pass area, known for previous attacks. This incident is the first time a whole train has been taken hostage in Pakistan.
