Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus or VRE are bacterial strains of the genus Enterococcus that are resistant to the antibiotic vancomycin. Enterococci are bacteria that are naturally present in the intestinal tract of all people. VRE infections may be hard to cure. Bacteria do not respond to many antibiotics. You may need more than one antibiotic to stop the infection. Watch Nurse Lisa`s previous video on antibiotics.... • What are Antibiotics and Are You Taki... VRE-infected or colonized patients should be isolated or in the same room as other patients who have VRE. Wear gloves (clean, nonsterile gloves are adequate) when entering the room of a VRE-infected or colonized patient because VRE can contaminate the environment. Nurse Lisa shares information on various health topics at the Calvary Evangelistic Assembly Church in Canada, on the early bird morning service. If you would like to be a part of the live broadcast you can join by visiting the zoom room at 0630am Et every Sunday morning and ask questions in the zoom room after service.
