In this video I will take a walk around the Grosvenor shopping centre in Chester city centre. I will enter the shopping centre via Eastgate street and also walk along the Edwardian rows that are around the shopping centre. This video was taken at 3pm on Sunday 16th March 2025. Here are some facts about the Grosvenor Shopping Centre: **Location**: Located in central Chester, surrounded by Eastgate Street, Bridge Street, Pepper Street, and adjacent to the Chester Grosvenor Hotel, making it a key shopping hub in this historic city. **Structure**: An indoor shopping centre combining Edwardian architecture with modern covered malls, featuring the charming Victorian St. Michael’s Arcade known for specialty shops like jewelers. **Stores**: Home to 60-70 stores, including high-street names like TK Maxx and Sports Direct, luxury retailers like Boodles, and dining spots such as Costa and Piccolino. **History**: First opened in 1965, it was once called "The Mall Grosvenor" under The Mall Fund’s ownership, reverting to Grosvenor Shopping Centre after a 2009 sale. **Facilities**: Offers a multi-storey car park with over 400 spaces (entry via Newgate Street, CH1 1DE), free Wi-Fi, and lifts, though public toilets were controversially removed after a refurb. **Opening Hours**: Open 7 days: Mon-Fri 9:00 AM-5:30 PM, Sat 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Sun 11:00 AM-5:00 PM, with bank holiday hours typically 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. **Community Role**: Part of Chester’s BID, it hosts local events like markets, adding vibrancy beyond retail. **Accessibility**: Accessible via entrances on Eastgate, Bridge, and Pepper Streets, close to Chester Cathedral and a ¾-mile walk from the train station, with a shuttle bus available. #grosvenorshoppingcentre #chester #fhestershopping
