Special Assignment: Skeletons of Cuito Cuanavale Part 2, 26 July 2015

Skeletons of Cuito Cuanavale Part 2, continues to follow the journey of Johan Booysen, a former conscripted SADF soldier, as he returned to Cuito Cuanavale in southern Angola after 27 years, where he was involved in a massive battle which took place in the area, known as the battle of Cuito Cuanavale. On his journey back to the former war torn town, Booysen meets a former FAPLA Commander who would have been one of his enemies during that time. Our group is given the privilege of a guided tour through the minefields in the Tumpo Triangle, which the Halo Trust and other NGOs have been working tirelessly to clear of deadly landmines and other war debris. We're also given a tour of a bizarre new war memorial which was not yet open to the public. We are told that we are the first South Africans to visit it. Will former conscripted SADF soldiers returning to countries where they were involved in cross-border wars, such as Angola, and interacting with the local people, help all find healing from the devastation of war?
