Front Flower Bed is getting a Big DIY Makeover! Front of House Landscaping Transformation Underway!

After weeks and weeks of mulling over this new garden design project, I finally made some decisions and have the perfect plant combination for the front of the house landscaping! I decided to leave my double pink knockout roses along the front of the house and plant out a hedge of Bobo hydrangeas in front of them, and then a hedge of Perfecto Mundo pink reblooming Azalea’s in front of them! Both of these plants are by Proven Winners‪@pwcolorchoice‬ So I know they will be fantastic performers for my garden! The Bobo hydrangeas have a rounder, full habit with large leaves and big fluffy white blooms in the summer, where my bright pink roses are vase shaped with a more airy open habit and paired together they will work beautifully. My roses get about 5 ft tall and 4 ft wide where the bobo hydrangeas planted in front of them will be about 4 ft tall and wide and then the evergreen foliage of the Perfecto Mundo Double Pink Azaleas will get 2-3 ft tall and wide with a lighter pink bloom. It’s the perfect layering! I’m so excited to see how they all work together to create color and year round interest in our front landscaping! I started the garden makeover project by expanding the flowerbeds out about 4 to 6 more feet in order to make room for all of my new shrubs. I lay weed barrier to kill out all of the existing grass and then lay compost on top of that so as I’m planting, I can mix the compost into the native soil to help with our heavy clay issue. I still have a lot of work to do with more compost, mulch, planting as well as my rock border, but the garden is looking amazing and I am so excited to see the final result soon!
