The Fluval M100 and M60 heaters are high quality. My review is a five star review because I love them. These are super good heaters and I consider fluval to be one of the best brands of heaters in the industry. I highly advise these! I need to vent! I am so tired of losing fish after putting so much effort into caring for them! I cycle my tanks, I test my water levels, I’m very careful to understock and make sure fish are compatible, I’m on a water change schedule of two weeks and I STILL lose so many fish! I lost my beta, 3 cory cats, two mollies, and some tetras in the last several months! I am just so frustrated, I really love my fish and they die within a couple months of bringing them home. its discouraging but the fact in this hobby is that you are going to lose fish, everyone loses them, I dont like to lose them either, and im sure no one does. the sucky part about keeping fish. fish can be so sensitive. muche moreso than alot of other pets we have. They are from several different stores. I definitely don’t quarantine as long as I should, I’ve never noticed a sick fish though. It’s either a complete surprise or they start bottom sitting and are dead the next day. Bruh I just bought a 20 brand new, dumped 16 community fish in it, some tetra cleaning bacteria and boom 3 days later, cycled tank with Crystal clear water, never had a fish die. Questions to think about. How much water change do you do? 50% if every two weeks. or 25% each week for a lightly populated tank. I do 75% each week for heavily stocked. Is your dechlor chemical still good? How close do you monitor temperature? Do you have any fancy or colored things or gravel that can leach toxins btw wcs? Is all your submerged electric items in good shape with no voltage seepagea from old units? Is your tank overstocked and outperforms your filter? What is you ph level? Water hardness? If well water, is it off the charts? Definitely good questions, I’ve never tested my water hardness. Ph is 7.4, Usually about 70-80% every other week. I use prime to dechlorinate. No substrate, some decor and silk plants along with live plants (the paint might be harmful?) I did have an issue with my heater getting to warm a few weeks ago, but I’ve bought new ones for all my tanks. I never had luck with tropicals when I was younger, I went to cichlids despite many being aggressive, I found more peaceful ones (especially when all male specimens and no females to compete over.) I've never gone back they are quite hardy. good luck. If you decide to change, ALL Mbuna (it's a class of cichlids) are very aggressive. I would stay away if you like a peaceful tanks, ask before you buy. Kribensis are very nice. Dwarfs from South america are a little delicate.... What about your water change methods? What do you use to treat your new water? Do you have chlorine or chloramines in your water? The difference between these can be devastating. Also, I recommend getting your water tested to find what levels of chlorine(amine) are present. I've lost fish when my municipality added an 'extra' dose of chlorine that wasnt neutralized with my standard dose of dechlor. I always add too much dechlorinator deliberately, not sure if it's the right or wrong thing to do but it's working for me. Haven't had a fish die in yonks. But I only have 12 fish. A couple of your fish really have opposite water parameters and while they may live together for a while, eventually one will not thrive and become sickly...live bearers like mollies and guppies thrive in hard alkaline water, tetras prefer soft acidic water. This is obviously not your main concern as you are losing all types. You might want to Check your water from the faucet. It could metals or something bad in it. I know It happened to me when I lived a few towns away from my house now. In my apartment I would loose fish every 2-7 maybe 8 months but couldn’t figure it out until I moved into my new house. I have been living in my house now for 8 years and maybe in these 8 years I lost 3 fish and only because they are older. Was talking to a buddy of mine about this a few years ago how my problem was solved when I moved. It turns out that he also had customers that live in that area with the same problems for years.
