Lorde percibe su relación con la otra persona como una obra de arte, digna de ser colgada en el icónico museo. Un dato curioso es que el Louvre fue un lugar de ejecución durante el siglo XII, por lo que la frase de ser "colgados en el Louvre" puede tener un doble sentido, refiriéndose a ser colgados por tener una relación comparable al arte o a ser colgados (ejecutados) por el fracaso de esta misma. La canción nos ubica en una relación obsesiva que avanza de manera muy desenfrenada hasta probablemente derrumbarse. Aclaraciones "Summer slipped us underneath her tongue": existen algunas drogas generalmente de fiestas que pueden ser administradas debajo de la lengua. En este caso el verano es quien consume esta droga, siendo la relación entre Lorde y la otra persona. Leí que esta línea también puede referirse a Lorde preguntándole directamente a los oyentes si pueden escuchar las emociones "violentas" detrás de las canciones de Melodrama. Por último, Lorde al hablar de poner un megáfono en su pecho "megaphone to my chest" y emitir latidos que hacen bailar a todos, está haciendo referencia a sus canciones y en como expone todas sus experiencias y emociones a través de la música, como si estuviéramos escuchando a su corazón.
