Fox Courting Barks & Screams And The Unexpected Return of a Sick Daughter Fox

Trail cameras capture a wild fox pair courting in the fall and winter. At night, the vixen screams while the dad fox barks and they gekker together, all on camera. This same pair is denning together for a third and last year. While mom fox is in the den with her new born fox puppies, a daughter fox comes back. She is sick with mange and I worry that the mange will spread to the fox puppies. A local wildlife rescue helps get medicine to the sick daughter fox and slowly she gets better. She says with her parents to help raise their new fox puppies, which is called alloparental behavior (I had to do some research). She is a good helper fox, she babysits the puppies while mom and dad fox go out hunting and she also brings prey back to the pups. There are 9 puppies this year, and all again survive into in the fall when they disperse with the care of all three adult foxes.
