5hp Briggs with homemade axial flow rotary Valve cylinder head and a lever that changes the relative rotational velocity of the rotary Valve depending where it is within the 4 stroke cycle. It can change duration from 180 to 240 crank degrees on the intake, which means the rotational velocity swings up and down by over 2x over the 720 crank degrees. Similar to the system the Rover K series engines from the 90's that had on their camshafts, but applied to a rotary valve. We actually did the full kinematic equations to design this whole system and the what is effectively a double four bar linkage and an eccentric floating center hub between them on a rotating shaft. This was not for the faint of heart, especially to make dimensions that were reasonable and would provide the variation we were looking for.
